PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
National Security Studies - Major Requirements: Completion of this major prepares one to assume the responsibilities of a security professional/manager (corporate),as well as a career in the National Security field (CIA, NSA, NIS, FBI, etc.). Continued study may include a master’s and/or doctoral degree in security administration, criminal justice or public administration, or a law degree. The requirement for admission to this degree track is an overall 2.25 CGPA. Course requirements for completion include the following. Course codes with an asterisk (*) have prerequisite or corequisite courses. These prerequisites and corequisites are listed with the course descriptions that follow.
Core Requirements (27 Credits):
SECU 150 Introduction to Security (3 credits)
SECU 151 Security Systems and Designs (3 credits)
SECU 220* Current Security Problems (3 credits)
SECU 222 Computer Security I (3 credits)
SECU 280* Security Organization and Administration (3 credits)
SECU 321* Seminar in National Security (3 credits)
SECU 323 Risk Management (3 credits)
SECU 398* Research Methods (3 credits)
Capstone Project (3 credits)
Electives (12 Credits):
Consult the faculty for advice in selecting appropriate electives (12 credits)
Those interested in NSA Certification for Information Security (INFOSEC) will include SECU 222 above, (as a prerequisite) and then these two to complete the three-course sequence:
