Typical Meeting Agenda

Our meetings start at 12:00PM and end around 1:00PM.
This sample agenda will give you an idea of what to expect during a typical meeting.

Meeting Segment Description Approximate time
President calls the meeting to order Gavel sounds and the meeting begins.

Opening Club Business President and other club officers provide updates about the Club and local Toastmaster activities. 12:06 PM
Welcome guests Guests are welcomed and asked to introduce themselves. 12:08 PM
Toastmaster introduces the Grammarian and Timer Club President introduces Toastmaster. One member acts as the master of ceremonies for the overall meeting. The Grammarian and Timer describe their roles for the meeting. 12:11 PM
Prepared speeches by one to three members Members present speeches that are both entertaining and help enhance and develop the member's skills. Speeches generally run between 4 to 7 minutes, with a 1-minute gap for the audience to write their comments for the speaker. 12:16 PM
Table Topics The Table Topics Master presents an overall theme or topic. Guests and members are then selected to deliver an impromptu 1- to 2-minute speech in response to a specific question. 12:32 PM
Voting - Best Table Topics Speaker The audience votes for the best Table Topics speech. 12:40 PM
Speech evaluations Prior to the speeches, members volunteer to evaluate one speaker according to Toastmaster’s guidelines. Their constructive evaluation aids both the speaker and audience. Evaluations run between 2 and 3 minutes. 12:42 PM
Grammarian’s report Speaker’s deviations from generally accepted grammar are noted along with the use of filler words like “ah” and “um.” 12:48 PM
Timer’s report Each speaking role is timed. This helps us gain a sense of time as speakers and aids our pacing and delivery. 12:50 PM
Meeting evaluation General Evaluator gives his or her opinion of the overall meeting and presents suggestions for improvement. 12:52 PM
Feedback from guests Guests are asked to give their comments about the meeting and are invited to return. 12:56 PM
Enlist speakers & roles At each meeting, a different team of people participates through the various roles. Members are requested to volunteer for roles at future meetings. This is a great way to learn new skills. 12:58 PM
