CALLS FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR UPCOMING SPECIAL ISSUES
TEACHING NATION
Deadline: June 30th, 2009
The editors seek articles (5,000 – 10,000 words), media reviews (books, film, video, performance, art, music, etc. – 3,000 to 5,000 words), and photo-essays that explore nation in a variety of pedagogical contexts and from all disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives (literary studies, women’s and gender studies, political science, international and area studies, law, media and communication studies, anthropology, history, psychology, sociology, art, photography, geography, religion, working-class and labor studies, ethnic studies, cultural studies, science, etc.) Topics might include: conceptualizing and contesting conceptions of nation; im/migration and language; nation and self-identities; economics and labor; globalization and transnationalism; nation and communities; nation, race-ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality; nation and public discourse; nation and conflicts; nationalism and patriotism; teaching nation in K-12 and higher education.

Transformations
publishes only essays that focus on pedagogical praxis and/or theory.
