In 1992, Rebecca Walker coined the term “Third Wave” in her article, ”Becoming the Third Wave.” Since then, this term has caused more rankle, confusion, and debate among feminists. Add to this, the popular media’s misrepresentation of feminism and Third Wave feminists. Today teaching about Third Wave feminism is a necessary part of the curriculum in the women’s studies classroom and other disciplines. Pedagogically one of the major advantages to teaching about Third Wave feminisms is that students are more likely to ally themselves with feminists they deem closer in age, race, class, and situation as themselves. The conundrum that the instructor will find is that there are now a plethora of books to choose from about Third Wave feminisms. This review focuses on Ms. MagazineThird Wave Agenda, Colonize This, Turbo Chicks, Catching a Wave , and The Fire This Time . These books provide a sample of the various choices that exist for a Third Wave or young feminist course syllabi.
